We recall a very funny moment at the gig when the Buddist DJ stopped a track at its peak by mistake of course but brought it back with a classic Mr.V track that had the crowed pined to the floor.

Theres no more cramped underground club but this time they bring it back with a pool party that will have the Duo Setman and Buddist DJ.

Towa Tei’s is the artist of the moment

Towa Tei is a Japanese-born, South Korean (Korean name: Donghwa Jung) DJ, who first earned notice for his production work on the Jungle Brothers’ 1989 LP Done by the Forces of Nature.

In 2005, Towa Tei released a new album dubbed Flash and a new single with Kylie Minogue, “Sometime Samurai”, which reached number six in Japan.

His best-known work in the West was as part of the post-80’s NY house music trio, Deee-Lite.

After the break-up of Deee-Lite in the late 90’s, Towa Tei returned to Tokyo to join the burgeoning “Shibuya-kei Scene” with the likes of Pizzicato 5 and Fantastic Plastic Machine.

King began his career in music as E-Culture, producing the underground hit 12-inch, “Tribal Confusion (Strictly Rhythm, 1990)”. After touring Europe’s dance clubs, King became DJ for the Grammy award winning Digable Planets in 1992. As the wax poet for Ishmael “Butterfly” Butler, Doodlebug and Ladybug, the band changed the face of modern hip-hop by fusing skat-style jazz with lyrical, deep and soulful vocal flow. Thats how we can describe wirelessG. Gee as he is
commonly known, has been dj'ing for 5years. It all started through his
love of deep house and collecting of south african house compilations.
As the need to b an indivdual grew so did the need, to have lp's. This
sparked the interest to be a dj. His 1st lp was the Harrison Crump
dancefloor hit 'i need your love'. Basement kollektion which included
dj's skhumba and setman was set up to feed the people of soweto pure
deephouse. Regular sessions held with deepnotic where held around
soweto and the following for all members grew. Through the years he
has evoloved to be a known force and social player in the circles of
soweto. This can be attributed to his brief yet successful stint as a
resident dj @Primi bazala in maponya mall, soweto where he played
alongside dj's bobo, china, claude and Glen lewis to name a few and
his involvement with the thesis social jam sessions. His taste in
music has crossed over to include hip hop,trip hop, lounge, acid jazz
and breaks which can all be heard @the thesis social jam sessions held
every 1st sunday of the month @ the thesis concept store in mofolo
soweto. This mix is full of deep soulful vocals with a tempo of about
123bpm.

Yul Emir AKA Yul Emirali is a London based piano/keyboard player who has been playing for around 26 years. See him performing live in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4I-aSaxM_kU.

He has developed a compositional and improvisational jazz piano style by doodling for long periods on a keyboard and playing with many people. This style continues to develop as he doodles and plays, producing fecund wet patches, which at times can produce some extremely undesirable moments.

He was one of the first people to be on the internet with a sax lead jazzy funky quartet called NE Key included in this weeks mix, along with Bonobo (www.musicunsigned.com) in 2001 back in the days when internet music was in nappies and music was submitted for criteria perusal.

Since then studio work has taken precedent.

Released his first EP aged 19 on Solemusic’s Tronicsole imprint. Known for his dark, almost techno influenced deep house music. Milton Jackson tends to fuse straight driving beats with eclectic, techy production styles. His first and so far only long player, ‘The Bionic Boy’ was received well by critics and the house fraternity and it spawned the Pepe Bradock influenced ‘Sunlight’. After having mainly appeared on Glasgow labels such as Solemusic and Glasgow Underground, 2006 sees Milton spread his wings with EPs due out on Freerange, Silver Network, Urbantorque and Luke Sardello’s Icon Recordings.

He has also recorded under a variety of pseudonyms, even venturing into the down-tempo domain as Napoleon Solo. His Bear Trax imprint released Mylo’s first vinyl release when the pair recorded as ‘The Pretty Boys’.

We heard his track on Dextirity's mix for our show and little did we know about this new up and coming rapper who took the dance floors of Europe out with a Electro dance track.

Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi (born January 30, 1984 in Shaker Heights, Ohio), better known by his stage name Kid Cudi, is an American rapper who first gained attention after the release of his debut mixtape a KiD named CuDi which he released in collaboration with New York street wear brand 10.Deep. The mixtape caught the attention of Kanye West, which in turn lead to Cudi’s signing to the G.O.O.D Music Label. His debut album, Man on the Moon: The Guardians, will be released August 25, 2009. He also has plans to release a collaboration album with Chip tha Ripper titled The Almighty Gloryus some time in 2009.

Kid Cudi is featured on Kanye West’s 2008 album, 808s & Heartbreak, singing with him on the track “Welcome to Heartbreak”, providing additional vocals on “Paranoid” and helped with songwriting on the second single “Heartless”. He also featured on the song Welcome 2 the World with Kevin Rudolf from his album In The City, and on 88-Keys debut album The Death of Adam on the track Ho’ is Short for Honey.

I hav never lived to see the death of any kind of movement of any sort, well apartheid was one. There is something going on in the world as we carry on with our perfect lives. Records are dying in some areas. Many record stores in South Africa are finding themselves having to shut down or ordering less music and some to make sales are ordering old music that is reguarded as classics to many house or Hip-hop heads.

CDJs are here and Laptops with they live music are also taking over one dance floor at a time.

I still have mix feelings about all of this but im kind of in the middle of this tug of war of music. I play CDJs but my Records still hold a very soft spot in my heart.

We are proud to say that Deeptention this month was a great success and the set-up was really to die for.

We were the opening set to this great party.

One on one with Setman and the Buddist DJ we went as deep as madly possible playing the deep tech sounds that we love.

We had a CDJ problem in the beginning. This was one of the worst CDJ i have ever used at gig damn! But we managed to fight with them in the long run.

It was a great gig we couldn't stay to see the other DJs such as Funky Lemon and DJ Mandla (Jozi knights album)

This man has touch Dj Setman in places on his mother could when he was a baby. He loves his use of electronic to create that deep sound that still drives and can hold its own on the big dance floors. Our new show will have a track by this, one of our top house producers, Mixed by setman.

Jimi Henrix is one of the most influencal musicians of our time and has mad rock what it is today and so i have been hearing.

Most of the movies i love have used his music in scenes either have kids playing being free or people taking drugs and being free. a sort of liberation sound of music , well thats how i see it or thats what i thought i would use his music for.

Im in love with this guy his the Godfather of Rock he puts so much soul into it. A black man that is loved by many. i must say that after a life changing day of playing his music i am now a proud fan, no let me refrays that im now a proud follower of this wonderful musician and artist of this American guitarist, singer and songwriter whose guitar playing was a considerable influence on rock music American guitarist, singer and songwriter whose guitar playing was a considerable influence on rock music.

This was a beautiful album from start to finish

I fell in love with this band when i was with my Brother at his farm house and he played me the original 'Flash back'.

I then made it my mission to find as many record as possible that had these guys. My first record was the Flash back remixed by Jazzanova.

In South Africa we have a mad good ear for good music and alot of the worlds best artist are in and out of our beautiful country i hope to live to see these guys live.

Its funny how Locksmith Beats radio started off in the bedroom... well we still haven't moved from DJ Buddist bedroom studio but we hope to move to better location.

The first show, which is available on our FACEBOOK groug, features a live mix by DJ Setman.

The recording was quick and fun thanks to Mo'funk bringing in a bottle of Tequila and some ladies with great voices to do our shows intro.
